Dan Burns, Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Dan Burns brings more than 23 years of business, technology and security industry experience to his role as chief executive officer. In this role he is responsible for the development and implementation of high-level strategies and direction of the company’s growth. Being able to provide clear insight into navigating the complex information security landscape is a priority for Burns. His philosophy is to focus on building long-term relationships with clients, working with them to simplify their lives and becoming a trusted information security partner rather than a reseller or outside consultant.
From 2002 when he co-founded Accuvant, until 2012 when he assumed his position as the company’s first CEO, Burns served as senior vice president of Accuvant’s sales organization. In that role, he was responsible for strategic planning, sales growth and problem resolution. Burns co-developed and helped to successfully execute on Accuvant’s initial vision – to build a company with the breadth, depth and capabilities to address the information security needs of organizations worldwide. He launched the sales force and grew it to a national powerhouse organization within a 10-year period, conducting business with nearly half of the Fortune 500, and driving $740M in revenue in 2014.
Prior to his achievements with Accuvant, Burns was the regional vice president of sales for the western region of OneSecure. He played an integral role in transitioning the organization from a managed security services (MSS) provider to a product company, delivering to the marketplace the first intrusion prevention system (IPS) and generating $40M in product sales in the first year.
Previously, as the western region vice president for Exault, an integrator, consulting organization and reseller, Burns secured some of the largest enterprise clients in the Rocky Mountain region and helped grow revenues to nearly $150M in two years. He also held positions at Access Graphics, Arrowpoint, and Netrex where he supported some of the largest telecommunication companies in building their information security programs, implementing technology and taking advantage of Netrex’s world-class MSS.
Burns earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from San Jose State University.
Mark Williams, President and Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Mark Williams brings more than 20 years of experience working with publicly and privately held software and technology companies. In his role as president and chief operating officer, he is responsible for managing the company’s internal operations, integrating acquisitions and driving operational efficiencies throughout the organization.
Previously, Williams served as FishNet Security’s president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer. During his tenure he helped the company achieve dramatic growth while realizing significant operational efficiencies. Williams also held a position on the board of directors, contributing to FishNet Security’s continued success in the information security industry with his wide range of business experience and expertise.
Prior to FishNet Security, Williams was chief financial officer for Mediware Information Systems, a successful publicly traded software company. During his tenure he led a highly successful operational turnaround, completed five acquisitions and achieved 13 quarters of consecutive revenue and EPS growth. He also spent more than 10 years in public accounting where he gained significant experience with mergers, acquisitions and the capital markets.
Williams earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Wichita State University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In 2012 the Kansas City Business Journal named Mark its CFO of the Year.
David Roshak, Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
David Roshak is a seasoned technology veteran with more than 20 years of financial and operational leadership experience. As chief financial officer, he is responsible for major M&A initiatives as well as managing all financial activity for the organization.
Previously, Roshak served as chief operating officer and chief financial officer for Accuvant, responsible for managing all financial activity as well as overseeing the company’s daily operations. Roshak played a critical role during the equity transaction between Blackstone and Accuvant, which was completed in April 2014. He also played a large part in the merger between Accuvant and FishNet Security which closed in February 2015.
Prior to joining Accuvant in early 2012, Roshak served as the CFO for iBAHN where he doubled the company’s international footprint to 45 countries by expanding in new, high-growth global markets such as China, India and the Middle East; managed the business development function, including creating new enterprise-level partnerships; and raised $20M of debt financing to support new service offerings.
Before his role at iBAHN, Roshak was the senior vice president of finance, mergers and acquisitions for Insight Enterprises where he managed the successful acquisition of Calence, a leading Cisco partner. He also served as CFO for the Information Services Group of Level 3, which included Software Spectrum, a $2B global reseller of business software, and (i)Structure, which owned and managed large corporate data centers.
Roshak received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and is a certified public accountant (CPA).
Jason Clark, Chief Strategy and Security Officer
Jason Clark is fueled by a great passion – to help and unite the security community to accomplish good. In his position as chief strategy and security 0fficer, Clark has the opportunity to bring the CISO community together to discuss concerns, share ideas, innovate and help each other overcome challenges. It allows him to help organizations go beyond technology to resolve their struggles, and to work with business executives to deliver solutions that create real value for organizations.
Clark brings to his role more than 20 years of experience building and executing successful strategic security programs. He leverages innovative approaches to develop and deliver a comprehensive suite of services and solutions that help CXO executives change their security strategies to ensure success, while aligning to business goals. Clark created the Office of the CISO, which brings value to the security executive community by helping them think differently about their strategy. Clark is the founder and president of the Security Advisor Alliance, which includes 350 CISO members from many of the largest companies in the United States. He is focused on growing the next generation by mentoring many first time CISOs to be savvy business executives.
Prior to joining Accuvant, Clark was the chief security and strategy officer for Websense, where he was a driving force behind the company’s transformation into a strategic player and provider of critical technology for chief security officers (CSOs). In his previous role as chief information security officer (CISO) and vice president of infrastructure for Emerson Electric, Clark significantly decreased the company’s risk by developing and executing on a successful security program for 140,000 employees across 1,500 locations. He has served as CISO for The New York Times, senior manager of security and infrastructure architecture for EverBank, and has held technical leadership positions of increasing responsibility for BB&T and the U.S. Army.
Clark, a well-known thought leader and highly requested speaker, hosts 20 CISO roundtables per year and has been ranked as a top 10 Global Security Leader by ExecRank. He has been quoted in and published by multiple media outlets and has presented at or keynoted more than 40 conferences worldwide, including RSA, Gartner Security Summit, CSO Perspectives, CSO Security Standard, Evanta CISO Summit and ISSA events. He participates on several corporate and advisory boards in the information security space, helping to drive innovation and guide companies toward success. Clark earned his master’s degree from Olin Business School at Washington University and his bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Central Florida.
Tim Hoffman, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales
Tim Hoffman brings more than 20 years of sales, management and leadership experience to his current position as executive vice president of worldwide sales. In this role, he leads a global team of highly experienced and motivated account managers, pre-sales security architects, and sales operations professionals.
For more than 12 years, Hoffman developed revenue growth opportunities and co-defined sales direction, vision and strategy for Accuvant. He joined the company in early 2003 as area vice president of sales for the Western U.S. and continued to grow his responsibility within the organization, ultimately assuming the role of overseeing Accuvant’s worldwide sales organization in 2012. Hoffman played a strategic role in expanding Accuvant’s presence to 36 offices across North America, enabling the company to achieve its first mission of developing a national footprint.
Hoffman’s belief in establishing long-term, trusted relationships with clients, business partners and manufacturers was central to Accuvant’s growth, resulting in nearly 90 percent of revenues being driven from Accuvant’s existing client base, which included almost half the Fortune 500. In his current capacity, Hoffman focuses on helping the company drive toward its goal of $3B in revenue by 2017.
Prior to joining Accuvant in 2003, Hoffman held sales positions with technology companies Blue Coat Systems and Calence.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in international business from Ohio Wesleyan University.
Steve Perkins , Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)
Steve Perkins is a 27-year veteran in computing, networking and information security and brings extensive knowledge and experience to his role as chief marketing officer. He is responsible for the company’s brand, go-to-market strategy, marketing and communication functions, field readiness, and community relations programs.
While serving as CMO of Accuvant, Perkins grew and led the company’s marketing organization to support the business’ aggressive growth strategy. His team is tasked with elevating the company’s overall brand and its awareness along with enabling field effectiveness and efficiency and supporting the success of the company’s many and diverse offerings.
Before joining Accuvant in 2010, Perkins held a wide range sales, marketing and business development leadership roles at Aruba Networks, KIKO, Cisco Systems, Hewlett Packard, and 3M Company. His unique combination of creativity, business and technical acumen, and people skills helped advance each company.
Perkins holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California and with continued studies in Shakespeare and history at the University of Cambridge, England.
Chris Scanlan , Senior Vice President, North America Sales
Chris Scanlan has nearly 20 years of sales experience in the technology and information security industries. As senior vice president of North America sales, he is responsible for overseeing and directing the sale of all the company’s information security solutions in the U.S. and Canada.
Scanlan served as a dedicated leader of the Accuvant sales team for nearly a decade. After joining the company in May 2005, he immediately made a positive impact by serving as regional director over a $90M business unit of the company. This led to his growth into an executive role where he was responsible for multiple sales regions that achieved 51 percent of all company revenue during his oversight of $350M in revenue.
Scanlan’s belief in establishing long-term, trusted relationships with clients, business partners and manufacturers has been central to the company’s growth, resulting in nearly 90 percent of revenues being driven from Accuvant’s existing client base, which includes half the Fortune 100 and Fortune 500.
Prior to joining Accuvant, Scanlan held sales manager positions with Blue Coat Systems/Cache Flow, Network Catalyst and U.S. West.
Scanlan earned a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from California State University-Chico. He is a graduate of the Anderson School of Business from the University of California, Los Angeles and received a certificate in computer networking from the University of Colorado Boulder.
Aaron Shilts, Executive Vice President of Services
Aaron Shilts has more than 20 years of industry experience leading a nationwide team of trainers, consultants and professional services leaders. In his current role as executive vice president of worldwide services, he is responsible for the direction and operations of the organization’s services business.
Shilts was previously executive vice president of services for FishNet Security where he served for more than a decade in a variety of services consulting and leadership roles. His strategic and innovative approach was geared toward aligning with clients’ needs and industry trends, and resulted in consistent growth of FishNet Security’s services business. Under his leadership, the company built industry leading security offerings, recruited top talent, and attained more than 20 percent growth year after year.
Prior to joining FishNet Security in 2002, Shilts was a senior consultant for VeriSign, delivering security solutions to customers worldwide. He also founded eSecurity Consulting Inc., a security consulting firm with customers throughout the United States, and served as a senior security engineer in the telecommunications industry, leading teams of technical engineers who performed network security and systems administration functions.
He earned a bachelor's degree in business computer information systems from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, served proudly in the U.S. Army National Guard and holds numerous technical certifications.
Dan Wilson, Executive Vice President, Partner Strategy
Dan Wilson has more than 20 years of sales and leadership experience in the technology industry. As executive vice president of partner strategy, he is responsible for all strategic partner initiatives and programs. Additionally, he oversees the operations and direction for the organization’s technology and managed services business units.
Throughout his career, Wilson has worked with hundreds of organizations within the three tiers of the distribution model – manufacturers, resellers and distributors. This breadth of experience helps him understand how best to leverage partner expertise while enabling him to identify and evaluate new technologies and solutions that align with the company’s services and meet clients’ needs.
During his tenure at Accuvant, Wilson was a member of more than 15 different partner advisory boards, which were instrumental in creating and executing effective channel programs. He also has actively participated in more than 150 advisory councils.
Prior to co-founding Accuvant in 2002, Wilson held positions at Access Graphics (GE Access), where he was instrumental in winning the company’s largest account by providing the value of the distribution channel to the end user. Wilson also held sales management positions with Netrex Secure Solutions, Exault and VeriSign.
Wilson has a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Colorado Boulder.
Anthony Crutcher , Chief Information Officer (CIO)
Anthony Crutcher is a 23-year veteran of leading global and enterprise IT organizations to deliver strategy, system and application integration, and technology innovation, while managing day-to-day IT operations. In his current role as chief information officer, Crutcher is responsible for developing and implementing a strategy to meet the short- and long-term IT goals of the business. He also acts as primary consultant on future technology trends to identify solutions that will benefit the company.
Previously, Crutcher served as senior vice president and chief technology officer at Sitel, a business process outsourcing leader, where he was responsible for the global technology platforms that delivered $1.5B in annual revenue. In this role, Crutcher was a primary contact for client service delivery, short- and long-term strategy, technology innovation, and IT operations.
Crutcher’s career encompasses IT leadership roles with Fortune 500 and large enterprise organizations across several industries, including telecommunications, finance/accounting and entertainment. For these companies, he built technology roadmaps along with guiding IT integration activities with various mergers and acquisitions while maintaining pristine IT operations.
Crutcher holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from the Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University as well as a master of business administration from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.
