Company History:

  • FishNet Security Consulting is founded by Gary Fish in the basement of his Blue Springs, Mo. home.
  • Fish spends the next year consulting directly with Kansas City-area businesses on the emerging Internet security market.
  • Fish moves the company from his basement to an office suite located at College Blvd. and Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park, Kan.
 
  • FishNet moves the company to a 1,000-square-foot office at the corner of 6th St. and Walnut St. in downtown Kansas City, Mo.
  • Fish hires the company's first account executive. They share a desk facing each other.
  • True to his consulting roots, Fish establishes formal support agreements with product manufacturers.
  • A Network Operations Center (NOC) is established to provide direct support to customers.
  • Seeing the need for firewall policy management, Fish creates an initial prototype scripting solution to solve a customer's issue. The prototype becomes known as FireMon.
