The NIDP course is 2-day hands-on course and is designed to provide intrusion detection and prevention concepts and the information that is necessary to administer, configure and implement the NetScreen-IDP product line.

Overview

The Juniper-IDP (Intrusion Detection and Prevention) course is 2-day hands-on course and is designed to provide intrusion detection and prevention concepts and the information that is necessary to administer, configure and implement the Juniper-IDP product line. Students will learn the basic concepts behind attacks as well as what can be done to detect and prevent them. The course will cover installation, component architecture, attack identification, policy creation and basic tuning and troubleshooting issues. At the completion of the course, the student will be able to accomplish the following using the Juniper IDP:

  • Identification of IDP components and architecture
  • Understanding different modes of IDP implementation
  • Installing the Sensor software, management server and UI
  • Using the CLI to view and define system parameters
  • Understanding different rulebases and attack signatures
  • Creating policies using pre-defined templates
  • IDP attack identification process
  • Basic optimization, tuning and troubleshooting
  • Defining custom services
  • Identification of IDP usage and implementation
  • Analyzing logs and generating reports
  • Basic troubleshooting
